Wåhlstrand's Water and Ink

Swedish artist Gunnel Wåhlstrand meticulously recreates the lives of her mom and father (who she never knew) with water and ink. The concept of even thinking about painting that herringbone floor with perfect perspective just blows the mind. Check out the cover story in the current issue of Foam.

The painting is so one-dimensional emotionally. But the detail is amazing. With all of the traditional Swedish elements there is that amazing mid-century French (?) chandelier. Such sadness/sterility in this image.
