National Skeet Shooting Champion, Pat Laursen -- possibly the most adorable woman ever known for blowing things to smithereens -- captured tending to her craft by the incomparable Alfred Eisenstaedt for LIFE in 1940.

Girl after my own heart... stylish too - i'm putting together my summer wardrobe and having just splashed out on some horribly expensive, fabulously trendy gladiator sandals i'm now inspired to spend the summer in saddle shoes and white ankle socks instead...
Reminds me of some of the ladies I saw at the Vintage Cup a couple of years ago, all shooting side-by-side shotguns in competition.
