i was one of the few who chose buenos aires ... yikes! istanbul is going to be awe-inspiring and a lot of fun ... i can't wait to see the photos!

Oh my, don't miss the Basilica Cistern (sp?) and as many Turkish baths as possible...Such delight.

Istanbul is an absolutely beautiful city. It is truly east meets west - exotic and familiar at the same time.

I'd recommend watching as many of Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's movies before going on your trip. And read A Fez of the Heart by Jeremy Seal.
